What is a good price?

A good price is relative to comparable pieces available elsewhere. We compare observed retailer asking prices for the same reference, case diameter, case metal, dial, bracelet, production era, box/papers, originality, service status and condition. Distinctions such as replacement parts, polishing, service history and included accessories can matter; where they are unresolved, an apparently similar listing is not reliable evidence of value.

Median and average

The median is the middle asking price. The average adds every eligible asking price and divides by the number of listings. Both describe offers observed by us, not verified completed sales. A single expensive outlier can move the average substantially.

A current comparison needs at least five eligible peers from three stores, excluding the selected listing, stale records and known duplicates. We withhold a comparison when prices are too dispersed or the apparent discount is implausibly large. Commission does not influence this calculation.

How the history is preserved

Each successful observation keeps its timestamp, price, currency, condition and product details. Updating today's offer does not overwrite yesterday's record. The chart counts each listing's final observation per UTC day. Days with fewer than five eligible listings from three retailers remain blank.

Retailers may list the same physical piece in multiple places. Known duplicates are excluded from current comparisons. Historical cross-platform duplicates may remain where identity cannot be established. Changes in the mix of available listings can also move the average without any individual watch changing price.

Price is not investment performance

We do not describe an asking-price trend as an investment return. Resale proceeds depend on finding a buyer, realized sale price, platform fees, shipping, taxes, condition and time. The absence of an observed listing does not establish that it sold. Reliable retention estimates require verified transaction evidence and a clear time horizon.

Know the final cost

Our headline comparisons exclude unreported shipping, tax, duties, authentication and buyer fees. Conditional coupons and membership prices need separate treatment. The retailer confirms the price and terms when you visit.

Where the purchase happens

We provide discovery and comparison. The named retailer handles payment, delivery, authentication, customer support and returns. Read its current policies before buying. We do not physically inspect or authenticate the item.

Data corrections

We retain source references and observation dates so discrepancies can be investigated. Items that become stale are removed from current-offer recommendations. Contact and project information.
